Practitioners/Therapists
Nils May
Master of Science (MSc) Advanced Oriental Medicine (Research and Practice)
Lic. Ac. and TCM Practitioner (according to German 'Heilpraktiker law')/ Heilpraktiker
Combining my affinity to Chinese medicine with my inherent skeptic thinking, is crucial to me. For this reason, after somewhat 10 years of practice, I have studied again - an MSc course (please see above) at the Northern College of Acupuncture (NCA) and the Middlesex University London (UK), who trained us to initiate research that meets both the complexity of Chinese medicine/acupuncture on the one hand, and the high standards of 'good scientific practice' and evidence-based medicine (EBM), on the other.
Scientifically, I'm focused on research into the effects of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture on ADHD associated symptoms and stress disorders.
Accordingly, in the Praxis im Gaengeviertel, I offer an
-
ADHD Acupuncture (focus) Clinic.
The following therapeutic methods are used in the treatment of a wide range of complaints, such as psychosomatic complaints, allergies and gastrointestinal diseases, gynecological complaints (eg dysmenorrhoea or those associated with menopause), diseases of the musculoskeletal system (back/knee pain), as well as (e.g. migraine-related) headaches:
-
Classical acupuncture
-
Chinese herbal medicine (CHM)
-
Tuina (Chinese manual mobilisation and massage)
-
Triggerpoint therapy
In the treatment of Complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) and conventional PTSD, as well as in the treatment of some kinds of depressive or anxiety disorders, ADHD, and affective disorders like Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD; which very often, in 70 - 80% of those affected, is aetiologically associated with traumatic experiences and, therefore, can then be considered falling under the umbrella term posttraumatic symptoms (PSS), as well as particular psychosomatic complaints, Therapeutic Boxing is applied as an adjunctive treatment method. In late summer 2024, I've been happy to publish a research article in a peer reviewed journal on Therapeutic Boxing's impact on CPTSD. Since March 2025, I attend a postgraduate research/PhD programme at the School of Psychology at the University of Bedfordshire, UK. We are investigating the impact of Therapeutic Boxing on CPTSD and perceived self-efficacy in adult CPTSD-diagnosed participants.
Social justice is close to my heart. Therefore, I am happy to have found a place of work in the community clinic Praxis im Gaengeviertel.
Since I believe that justice should also include our fellow sentient non-human creatures, I do not prescribe Chinese medicines of animal origin.

Angelina Baster
Diploma-Psychologist (univ.)
Primary background of my previous psychological activity is in the field of victim protection.
Within that field, my main focus is on trauma therapy and psychosocial counselling work, as well as crisis intervention.
In this context, I deepened and broadened my knowledge of trauma-induced secondary symptoms and, in addition to the individual counselling of affected clients, I gained many years of experience in cross-institutional and cross-medial networking.
In addition, I carry out target group-specific further training and give lectures at specialist events.
In the community clinic Praxis im Gaengeviertel, I do offer
-
low-threshold, psychological counselling for people who, for example, are in acute crisis situations, need support in decision-making processes or want an objective view of problem situations.
-
In addition, I optionally refer patients and clients, and support them in 'finding' a suitable therapeutic process that suits them and their individual needs.
